Effects of Class System.

#Racism, #discrimination based on #disability & other "diagonal oppression" are effects of class system and help hold it in place. For example when people's time is taken up by struggle to survive or make ends meet, it is difficult to take part in the kind of reflection that makes one aware of #inequalities and the structures that cause and perpetuate them...When we are fighting the #diagonal forms of #oppression, sooner or later we come up against #class, because sooner or later we must address the real lack of power and resources faced by people forced to bear the #stigma of other #oppressions. This is usually the point where we hit real resistance. Those with #wealth and #powerare often ready to accept token changes, for example, a change of attitude, but not real #structural change, like #redistribution of #wealth or power. #AnneBishop
